It gives me great pleasure to share some insight for the future of Gilda Shedstecker Presents! As founder and Artistic Director of this company, my focus will continue to be on presenting the irreverent comedies that I love. There are plans in the works for productions of Golden Girls on stage, a Gilda version of Gone with the Wind, GSP\’s first ever musical, and more Durang, too! Comedy is a medicine we hope you’ll continue to share with us.
But in our fourth year, I’m thrilled that our family has gotten strong enough to grow wings and begin exploring some new territory as well. Our recent production of The Actor\’s Nightmare was our first outing with a new director at the helm. It was a tremendously happy effort and I couldn\’t be more pleased to share my seat with my associate, Jacki Dietz. You still won’t see any tired rehashes of classic theatre that’s being produced somewhere within a drive of Canton this season or last season or next season, but Jacki will be sometimes exploring material that is more dramatic and florid than the fare I generally dish up. It might be the kind of show that would make Gilda sob! We want to serve our audience and actors who love The Shawshank Redemption and Sophie’s Choice. But one thing we promise is to continue to present the quality of theatre you’ve come to expect. And just because Jacki joins me in the director\’s seat doesn\’t mean you won\’t still see her prodigious talent on stage, too.
Our thanks for being with us these four years! We continue to grow into our own, and you ain’t seen nothing yet!
